Colorado Bullyproof: A CBA YLD & ABA YLD Public Service Project
Bullyproof is built on the idea that young lawyers across the country can educate and empower to end bullying. Bullyproof was developed and implemented by the ABA YLD’s Public Service Team, and has been rolled out locally by affiliate associations, such as the CBA YLD. The program, held on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Newtown Middle School in Centennial, was presented to the entire school—600 middle school students. A school climate assessment was also performed, which involved the students electronically and anonymously answering a questionnaire, the results of which are used by the school as a tool to assess the extent of the bullying problem at the school.
DBA Fit to Practice Spinning CLE
The DBA Fit to Practice Task Force held its third spinning class mixed with a CLE on Thursday, January 30, at the Gym Uptown. John Baker and Judge Dennis Graham spoke about the negative characteristics and consequences of “Rambo” lawyering to a sold out class. Baker and Graham used video clips and the DBA Professionalism vignettes to show examples of lawyers behaving badly, and went around the class to ask each participant their thoughts. It was an interactive class blended with a great morning workout.
The DBA Fit to Practice Task Force holds spinning classes every Thursday from 7–8 a.m. at the Gym Uptown. Registration is $5 per class. It also sponsors a weekly free yoga class from 7–8 a.m. at the CBA/DBA offices, 9th floor. All members and friends are encouraged to attend these events.
