Law School … Yes, We Can (Sí, Se Puede), a law school pipeline program that is nearly 200 lawyers strong, welcomed its third class of fellows at its annual kick-off event held at the law office of Rathod Mohamedbhai on August 11. These 14 rising college freshmen hail from Pueblo, Carbondale, Federal Heights, Denver, Commerce City, Boulder, Longmont and Thornton. While they come from different backgrounds, they are united in their goal of making admission to law school more than just a dream. Colorado Lawyer Mike Burg Hosts Book Signing at the Tattered Cover Book Store
On August 9, DBA member and author Mike Burg discussed his new book, Trial by Fire: One Man’s Battle to End Corporate Greed and Save Lives, at a book signing at the Tattered Cover Book Store at 2526 E. Colfax Avenue in Denver. In April, he became the first Colorado attorney to be inducted into the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame.
SCBA Hosts SEE ME™ Community Rally
On July 16, the Sam Cary Bar Association (SCBA) organized a rally and campaign called SEE ME™ to demonstrate the unity of our community in its commitment to the rights of individuals. The CBA joined forces with the SCBA and other specialty bars on this important issue, which encourages people to unite against the inhumanity of the violence by and against law enforcement officials.
Colorado Attorney Recognized with HNBA Lifetime Achievement Award
Colorado lawyer Henry Solano, a partner at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dickler, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hispanic National Bar Association’s 41st Annual Convention in Chicago on September 8.
Kristin Bronson Appointed as New Denver City Attorney
Kristin Bronson, a partner at Lewis Rothgerber Christie, was appointed as Denver’s new City Attorney on August 18 by Mayor Michael Hancock. As City Attorney, Bronson will provide legal representation to Denver city officials, departments, agencies, boards and commissions. She will also oversee approximately 200 attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.
