BakerHostetler is proud to announce that Lyle Wallace was recently elected to the Board of Directors of Denver Urban Scholars. In this role, Wallace will aid the organization in its mission to support at-risk youth in the Denver Metropolitan area.

CHANGES

Thomas Kanan has recently become Claims Manager for Western Guaranty Fund Services, a non-profit facility that handles property, liability and workers’ compensation claims for the statutory insurance guaranty associations of a seven-state region, including Colorado. Kanan continues to practice as a private hearing officer, insurance consultant, and forensic expert, and for the twentieth year, as moderator of the Challenge Bowl at the Denver Public Schools’ annual Shakespeare Festival.

LARyannThe Harris Law Firm is pleased to announce that J. Ryann Peyton has joined as special counsel. Peyton will focus her practice on family law and will specifically handle cases in the GLBT community. Peyton has served as secretary of Twin Cities Quorum, Minnesota’s GLBT Chamber of Commerce, Budget and Legal Chair for the Denver Gay & Lesbian Flag Football League, and currently serves on the board of The GLBT Center of Colorado.

Cordell & Cordell named Barbara Johnson-Stern its newest partner. She’s practiced family law almost exclusively since she became a lawyer in 1999.

LAFano_RonaldRon Fano, a partner in the Denver office of Spencer Fane (formerly Grimshaw & Harring P.C.) has been named office managing partner. Fano is a member of the firm’s labor and employment and litigation and dispute resolution practice groups. He focuses primarily in commercial litigation and employment law.

The Denver City Attorney’s Office is pleased to announce the addition of Dan Reimer as assistant director of its airport legal services division. Reimer comes to the City Attorney’s Office from the law firm of Kaplan Kirsch & Rockwell LLP, where he was an equity partner.

Gayle Keahey will be leaving the University of Denver Sturm College of Law this summer. Keahey will be moving to Austin, Texas where her husband’s position has been transferred. Hired as a Career Consultant in 2007 and promoted to Associate Director in 2011, Keahey has been a key member of the Office of Career Development & Opportunities (CDO). She also served for two years as the law school representative to DU’s Staff Advisory Council. Keahey’s CDO legacy includes her conception and implementation of the CDO’s Student Development Program.

BakerHostetler announced that Matthew C. Baisley recently joined the firm’s Denver office as a member of the complex commercial litigation team.
Baisley focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and class action defense, and has represented diverse clients on numerous litigation matters.

Jackson Kelly PLLC is pleased to welcome two new attorneys: John S. Zakhem and John L. Skari, Jr. 

Zakhem joins the firm as counsel. He has served as chairman of the Colorado Secretary of State Personnel Board and has been an adjunct professor at University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

Skari will practice in the commercial law practice group. Skari focuses his practice primarily in the area of civil litigation and has experience in commercial litigation matters.

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced the elevation of Nathan Cassell to counsel. Cassell focuses his practice on patent prosecution and counseling in the health and life sciences industry area.

Fortis Law Partners LLC is pleased to announce that Lori L. Duwve has become a member and manager of the firm. Duwve’s new position of leadership within the firm strengthens their real estate practice.

Spencer Fane LLP, formerly Grimshaw & Harring P.C., has moved to the 20th floor of the Wells Fargo Building at 1700 Lincoln St. in downtown Denver. The firm has been in the downtown Denver area for more than 50 years, and they are excited for the next chapter of their growth.
